New Year's Eve nails: OPI Wonderous Star

Wie schon letztes Jahr, trage ich zu Silvester auch wieder einen Lack aus der Holiday Kollektion 2013. Im letzten Jahr war es Goldeneye aus der Skyfall James Bond Kollektion (hier zu sehen) und in diesem Jahr ist es Wonderous Star aus der Mariah Carey Holiday Kooperation mit OPI. Ich liebe die Holiday Kollektionen einfach (denkt nur an die Muppets von 2011 <3). Wonderous Star hat eine glitzernde, champagnerfarbige Base und ist durchzogen von kleinen, runden schwarzen Glitzerpartikeln. Eigentlich weniger mein Fall, dachte ich bis ich ihn aufgetragen habe. Wonderous Star glitzert wie ein Feuerwerk, ist aber nicht trashig. Ich habe Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs. als Unterlack genutzt, weil ich ein bisschen Sorge hatte, dass Wonderous Star alleine zu transparent sein könnte, Stichwort visible nail line. Mit Unterlack, einer Schicht Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs., zwei Schichten Wonderous Star und einer Schicht Topcoat ist es perfekt und das neue Jahr kann kommen.

Ich bin schon gespannt was 2014 alles passieren wird und was für tolle neue Kollektionen auf den Markt kommen werden...

I'm not sure if it's already a tradition, but I tend to wear a nail polish from Opi's current holiday collection for New Year's Eve. I just love the holiday collections. Remember the Muppets? Loved it. Last year I wore Goldeneye from the James Bond Skyfall collection (see it here) and this year it is Wonderous Star from Mariah Carey's collaboration with OPI. Wonderous Star has a glittery champagne base and small, black hex glitter. I didn't think much of it in the bottle, because it's not exactly my cup of tea. But I ended up liking it more than I thought. It's like a tiny fire work on my nails and looks very elegant. I used my regular base coat, one coat of Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs., two coats of Wonderous Star and some top coat. I was afraid that applied alone, Wonderous Star might show a visible nail line, so Mimosas for Mr.&Mrs. provided a great base. 

Enough talking, let's see what's there for us in 2014. Can't wait for all new upcoming nail polish collections...

DKNY Sweet Delicious Pink Macaron

Eigentlich bin ich kein Fan von viel zu süßen Düften, aber der limitierte Duft Pink Macaron von DKNY hat es mir angetan und so schenkte ich ihn mir selbst zu Weihnachten :)

Pink Macaron gehört neben Tart Key Lime und Creamy Merengue zu den limitierten Sweet Delicious Düften von DKNY, die an Cupcakes erinnern sollen und bereits zum zweiten Mal erhältlich sind. Sie sind exklusiv über Douglas zu bekommen und 50ml EdP kosten ca. 40€. Da ich sonst keine Infos zu dem Duft habe und meine Nase nur zwischen süß, fruchtig, blumig etc unterscheiden kann, entnehme ich die Duftbeschreibung auch dem Douglas Onlineshop:

Dieser Duft ist wie eine köstliche Praline. Feine florale und sinnlich-cremige Noten sorgen dafür, dass einem förmlich das Wasser im Munde zusammenläuft. Dieser Duft-Cupcake besteht aus einem Mix von Nektarine und Kumquat, darüber eine Schicht aus Granatapfel und ein Akkord von Rosenmarzipan. Üppige Holznoten und Tonkabohnen sorgen für eine äußerst süchtig machende Basis, über die sich weicher Amber legt.

Klingt fancy, riecht auch so. Aber man muss süße Düfte mögen. 

Pink Macaroon hält fast den ganzen Tag auf der Haut und ist trotzdem nicht zu schwer. Ich weiß nicht, wie lange das dufte Trio noch zu haben ist, also solltet ihr euch die Cupcake-Düfte noch schnell ansehen bevor sie weg sind. 

Actually I'm not that much into sweet scents, but Pink Macaron by DKNY is just too sweet to let it pass and so I got me this as a christmas present. 

Pink Macaron, Tart Key Lime and Creamy Merengue belong to the limited Sweet Delicious collection by DKNY which is supposed to remind you of cute little cup cakes. They have been released before some time ago and returned this year. This collection is sold exclusively at Douglas. 50ml EdP retail for about 40€. I have no further information regarding these fragrances (not sure in which other European countries it is sold and if it is available in the U.S.) and I`m not much of an expert when it comes to scents, so I more or less translated the official information found on Douglas.de: 

This fragrance is a mix of floral elements and hints of nectarine, kumquat, pomegranate and a woody base with amber and tonka bean (horrible translation, I'm sorry). 

If you have a sweet tooth like me, you are going to like this fragrance and probably the others from this collection, too. Pink Macaron lasts nearly all day on my skin, but it is not as heavy as other sweet fragrances I know. I'm not sure how long they will be available, so you should check them out soon.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Underneath the Misteltoe

Ich habe zwei lieblings Weihnachtssongs: Rockin' around the christmas tree von Brenda Lee (aus Kevin allein Zuhaus) und All I want for christmas von Mariah Carey. Weihnachten und Mariah passen einfach zusammen. Deswegen ist Underneath the Misteltoe aus der diesjährigen Mariah Carey Holiday Kollektion auch der perfekte Weihnachtslook für die Nägel. Er ist rot, glänzt schön und glitzert. Aber kein bling-bling Glitzer, nicht protzig und unübersehbar, viel besser: Der Glitzer bei Underneath the Misteltoe wirkt, als wäre er in der Farbe eingeschlossen oder so ähnlich (ich bin leider eine Erklär-Niete). Zwei Schichten plus Topcoat und Weihnachten kann kommen. Underneath the Misteltoe ist für mich der bisher perfekteste Nagellack für die Weihnachtszeit. Also schnell noch die Nägel lackieren, Geschenke auspacken und das Weihnachtsessen genießen. Frohe Weihnachten euch allen!

I have two favorite Christmas songs: Number one is Rockin' around the Christmas tree by Brenda Lee (Home Alone comes to my mind immediately) and Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas. I somehow can't separate Mariah Carey and Christmas, so my nail polish for the holidays had to be one from Mariah Carey's Holiday 2013 collection: Underneath the Misteltoe is the perfect shiny red with just the right amount of glitter in it. It's no obvious bling-bling-kinda glitter, it actually looks as if the glitter is inside the color (my explanations suck, I know). 

The photos show two coats plus top coat. Underneath the Misteltoe is by far my favorite nail polish for the holiday season.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Vesper Liquid Sand

In dieser Woche gibt es mal wieder einen Liquid Sand-Lack von OPI: Vesper wurde im Sommer im Rahmen der Bond Girls Collection released, die ausschließlich aus Lacken mit der Liquid Sand-Formulierungen bestand. Vesper ist ein sehr dunkles Lila. Es wirkt fast schwarz. Der Auftrag ist easy wie immer und ohne top coat hält er und hält und hält...

Vesper is a very dark purple color, it is almost black. Applying it was easy and it lasts and lasts and lasts (without top coat)....

Riri hearts Mac fall: Riri Woo lipstick

Ich bin mal wieder viiiiel zu spät dran. Die Riri hearts Mac holiday collection steht schon in den Startlöchern und mit ihr, ein letztes Mal der Riri Woo Lippenstift.

Deshalb also hier noch eine fixe Review: 

Riri Woo ist ein wunderschöner, matter Rotton mit blauem Unterton. Auf dem

Lippenstift ist der Riri-Schriftzug ebenso eingeprägt wie auf der hübschen Rosé-farbenen Hülse (wie bei dem Exemplar hier aus der Herbst Kollektion). Er hält extrem lange auf den Lippen, trocknet sie aber auch etwas aus. Für noch bessere Haltbarkeit empfehle ich einen Lipliner zu benutzen (in der holiday collection wird es leider keinen passenden Lipliner geben) und auf jeden fall auch etwas Lippenbalsam unter dem Lippenstift, damit er nicht zu trocken ist. 

Riri Woo mit dem retromatten Finish ist für mich das perfekte Rot. 

21€ kostet das gute Stück. Wer ihn noch nicht hat, aber haben möchte, sollte schnell sein und die letzte Chance nutzen. 

I'm late, as always, but here is a short review of the Riri Woo lipstick from the last Riri hearts Mac fall collection. With the release of the holiday collection you will have one last chance to get your hands on the Riri Woo. 

Riri Woo is a cool red with blue undertones. Rihanna's signature is inscribed on the sides around the lipstick, so it is on the beautiful rose gold packaging from the fall collection. It has a retro matte finish that is a little bit drying. I recommend using some lip balm before applying it. I would also recommend using a lip liner (there will be no matching lip liner included in the collection this time). Riri Woo lasts a pretty long time, only eating takes it all of. 

To me Riri Woo feels like the perfect red. It retails for about 21€.

So be quick and get yours with the release of the holiday collection.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Sleigh Ride For Two

Und wieder ein wunderhübscher Lack aus der Mariah Carey Holiday Kollektion 2013: Sleigh Ride For Two ist ein rötlich/bräunlicher, schimmernder Pflaumenton. Er ist irgendwie so etwas wie der dunklere, aber nicht minder hübsche Bruder von I Knead Sour-Dough aus der San Francisco Collection. Und wer den Post über I Knead Sour-Dough gelesen hat (wenn nicht, dann ist er hier zu finden), weiß dass das für mich eine Traumfarbe ist. Sleigh Ride For Two steht also auch ganz oben auf der Liste. Er deckt nach zwei Schichten optimal und hält mit Topcoat wie immer fast eine Woche. Ach und hab ich schon erwähnt, dass er aus der Mariah Carey Kollektion stammt? Perfekt also.

Here we have another beauty from Mariah Carey's Holiday 2013 collection: Sleigh Ride For Two is dark shimmering, plumish maroon. It somehow reminds me of I Knead Sour-Dough from the San Francisco collection and I loooove I Knead Sour-Dough (read all about it here). Sleigh Ride For Two is darker though, but it's definitely in my top ten. Two coats for full opacity and some top coat so the shine will last longer. Oh and did I mention that it's from the latest Mariah Carey collection? You see, it has all right to be in my top ten.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window

Im Moment habe leider wahnsinnig viel mit der Uni zu tun und komme kaum dazu den Blog abzudaten, aber hier ein fixer post zum Nagellack der Woche: Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window aus der Touring America Herbstkollektion von 2011 ist ein klares Khakigrün. Die Cremeformel deckt perfekt nach zwei Schichten und ein wenig Topcoat verhilft zu einer spiegelglatten Oberfläche.
Aufgrund meines suboptimalen Zeitmanagments und der kurzen Tage, habe ich es leider nicht geschafft den Lack im Tageslicht zu fotografieren. Sorry dafür.

I'm really busy at the moment and besides doing my homework, preparing for tests and other stuff I have only little time left to update my blog. But here is a quick post about this week's nail polish: Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window from the fall collection 2011 themed Touring America is a nice olive green. Not dirty, but very clean in a way. Formulawise it is a cream, opaque with two coats and it gets a super smooth, shiny finish with a top coat. I couldn't manage to take pictures in the daylight this time, because of my rather poor time management and because it is getting dark so early. I'm sorry.

Meine OPI (love-) story

Nagellack und ich waren eigentlich schon immer gute Freunde. Gerne pinselte ich schon im zarten Kindesalter von vier oder fünf alles auf meine Nägel was in einem kleinen Fläschchen steckte und streng roch. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt waren meine Finger nicht mehr umlackiert, niemals, auch heute nicht. Unlackiert verlasse ich das Haus nicht. Kein Witz.

Zwischendurch folgte eine kurze, fiese French Manicure-Phase mit teilweise hellblauem Lack und viel zu langen Krallen und ja, es sah so aus wie es sich anhört. Später probierte ich dann alles aus, ehrlich, ich hatte sie alle: American Nails, Chanel, Dior, Essie, KOH, Lancome, Nails Inc, YSL etc und auch wenn die Farben schön und die Haltbarkeit gut ist, hatte ich meinen heiligen Gral noch nicht gefunden. Immer wieder las ich vom besten Nagellack der Welt: OPI. Den muss ich testen. Der Wunsch war also geboren, aber wo sollte ich ihn bloß herbekommen?

Dann kam der Winter 2008. Meine Freundin Patricia reiste nach Polen und entdeckte in einer Sephora-Filiale eine OPI-Ecke. Aufgeregt rief sie mich an und gab mir alle Farben durch, die der kleine Aufsteller hergab. Nach kurzem Überlegen wurde es We'll Always Have Paris. "Das ist er." sagte ich. Und das wurde er auch, mein erster OPI Nagellack aus der La Collection de France, ich wiederhole mich: aber für mich die schönste Kollektion ever! und ich versuche immer noch alle Farben aus dieser Kollektion zu ergattern, Lebensziel quasi, eines von vielen.

Ein paar Tage später waren wir dann vereint und es war Liebe auf den ersten Blick. We'll always be together, dachte ich mir. Ich mag die Farben, die Namen, die Fläschchen, die Themen der Kollektionen (oh Mariah) und die Haltbarkeit. Wenn ich meinen Nagellack der Woche vorstelle, dann ist es auch tatsächlich der Lack, der eine Woche auf meinen Nägeln bleibt. Und ja ich "mache" auch Sachen mit meinen Händen und halte sie nicht 7 Tage in der Luft ;)

Fünf Jahre später ist die Liebe immer noch frisch. 136 neue OPI Farben (darunter auch viele Minis) sind seitdem bei mir eingezogen, meine neuste Bestellung noch nicht mit eingerechnet. Das selbst gebaute Regal meines Vaters muss mittlerweile auch schon erweitert werden, um alle Neuankömmlinge unterzubringen. Meine Freunde versuchen mich regelmäßig bei Wetten, dass..? anzumelden, weil ich wahrscheinlich alle Namen aller Lacke aller Kollektionen parat habe.

Und was ist aus meinem ersten OPI Nagellack, We'll Always Have Paris, geworden? Den habe ich leer lackiert, ersetzt, aber das erste Fläschchen trotzdem behalten. We'll always be together. Wenn ich das sage, dann meine ich das auch so.
